This week I started by finally attaching a bracket to the bottom of the screw so that the weight of the bearings would not make the screw fall out eventually after continued use. I originally planned to screw it in but that would require me to sand down another divot in the inside of the pipe so that the screw would be flush with the wall I decided just to hot glue it for now as I don't need to have access to the interior of the pipe right now.

After that, I began researching electromagnets and how to make a strong one that could hold the top. I had to use insulated wire as we don't have any coated copper wire, which is better for an electromagnet as it allows more coils, making a stronger motor. I also had to use a steel core which has a lower permeability than a better material for electromagnets like iron. It still ended up working pretty well for what I want to do but a lot of improvments can still be made such as using different wire and different core.
