Week of 10/20 - 10/24

This week was mostly testing, as well as looking at an auction and touring a college. The first thing I did this week was figure out what was wrong with my breadboard. I was testing, and I figured out that the Hall effect sensor was getting extremely hot very quickly, so I realized the issue was most likely there. Last week, I had replaced the sensor I was using before with a new one, and I thought I was using the same one, but it turns out that they were actually different.

The ground on the old sensor was the third pin, but for the new one, it was in the middle. This made it so that I had to rewire my breadboard, but now it seems to work. I'll need to resolder the actual wires for the PCB version, but that won't be too difficult.

I was also finally able to print my box, which I had redesigned last week, and was waiting for the printer. The new design worked perfectly, and easily fit the two screw on parts I needed to, as well as aligning with the two holes where I will plug in both power and the sensor. The electromagnet plug also fits very flush, which was satisfying, and it looks great.

Seniors have Wednesday off to plan for the future, so I took this time to tour UMass Amherst with two of my friends. Although the car ride was long, the college itself was pretty cool, and the food was definitely worthy of its #1 ranking.

Our shop teacher also showed us an auction from a company that went out of business, and I looked around it to see if there was anything that tickled my fancy. While this massive agriculture drone looked pretty cool, it was $1000 at , minimum, so I decided not to invest in it. I did find a space heater, though, which I thought my economics reacher might like since she already has 3 of them, and likes her room to be boiling, so I showed her the post.
